Well, I’ll be darned. Wanting to avoid all the Grand Avenue Bridge construction craziness in nearby Glenwood Springs, I found myself staying 20 minutes down I-70 in Silt, Colorado. Considered eating at one of the town’s two pizza places for dinner, then instead decided on The Miner’s Claim as it appeared to be, by far, the best restaurant in town. Walked up the wooden ramp pathway and pulled open the solid metal front door (which reminded me of an alleyway exit door). Pushing through a line of clear plastic flaps, used to keep heat in, I was shocked to find myself inside a quite swanky interior decorated in such a way that it would not have been out of place in a trendy Denver nightclub. Weirdest and most wonderful of all, I found that the restaurant had been built in such a way as to completely encase a historic 1920s wooden cabin in its midst! The cabin part appeared to be in use as the kitchen, with the restaurant seating in an attractive and complimentary modern attachment to the back of the cabin. At the front of the cabin was a large and classy clear plastic tent structure (think outdoor wedding reception) which housed the bar area seating and, beyond that, outside was a nice patio with a fireplace going in its seating area. We had great service, great food, and were impressed by the mile-long cocktail list! My only suggestion would be to consider expanding vegetarian options (vegetarians have many meat-eating friends and if there’s not much for us to eat somewhere, they let us lead the way to another place), though it was nice to see that thought had been put into having a vegetarian Napoleon on the menu. What a cool place to come across in Silt, Colorado!
Everything this place makes is good. we have been 3 times now and every time has been a great experience, owner really seems to care about the place which you can defiantly tell. Wait staff was very nice and the steak and seafood was amazing, You have to try the mashed potatoes!
We have been to many restaurants in our day. High-end, hole in the wall, you name it. This was by far one of my favorites. It was their off-season so it wasn’t very full, but it had a good atmosphere kind and friendly staff, fast service, and the food was absolutely out of this world. You’re making a mistake if you pass this one by.
Overall great experience here! The staff was super friendly and the food was the best I've ever had. I'm from California and was just driving through with my boyfriend and we happened to stay at the holiday inn nearby. I would come back to Silt, CO just to eat here and can't wait for my next drive through the Rockies just to do so! Again really great atmosphere and food, thanks so much!
Food was absolutely amazing!! Worth trying. Atmosphere creative and dynamic, however waitresses rushed the experience in order to free up a table for people waiting. We were asked for our plates 3 times before we finished. We were served, ate and finally left only having one beer each within 17 minutes because we were continually asked " are you finished ". Sad!!' Because we would have liked to stayed and drank another beer.
